Hard Drive Failing?

This is driving me crazy. Lets say I'm surfing on OCN or doing any other computer related tasks, my comp will randomly freeze up and take 1 min to become responsive. While it's frozen, my HD light is on. It doesn't flicker; just stays solid. It'll still play music through iTunes or another.

I've tried a disk defrag, system restore and a fresh installation of windows. I'm out of ideas.

EDIT: Took me about 10 mins to type this because it froze up about 4 times.

If your hearing clicking noises coming from your HDD, then you might want back it up. You can check your HDD for errors by running CHKDSK utility.

As for your computer randomly freezing, I think RAM or PSU might be unstable. My computer only freezes up if I'm at an unstable o/c.

It's done that on it's own a couple of hours ago and it went into windows fine. I'm not sure why my comp is locking up.

Have you tried running your computer on stock settings to see if your still locking up? I o/ced my computer upto 2.5GHz a few nights ago on default volts and my computer would lock up during gaming. I later found out my RAM was unstable because the stock volts were too low.

I'll try messing with my ram settings.

I unplugged my HD, replugged it in and switched it to a different SATA slot which seems to have fixed my issue of my comp locking up. I'm hoping this wasn't a short term fix but more of a long term fix.
