whats holding back OC?

Thread Starter
i found out my max fsb is 350 but it starts getting unstable around 230 when overclocking. i was wondering if its perhaps my ram and its inability to go above 1.9v? if i got some ram that could do 2.2v could i get a better oc along with better timings? as minea re at 5-5-5-15-24-2t with a trfc of 127ns

As in your motherboard cannot give that ram anymore voltage? I thought just about every DDR2 module could handle 2.1V - 2.2V

Regardless... necessary ram voltage is independent of your CPU OC.... you only need to up your ram voltage when you tighten timings or up the frequency of the RAM.... are you using a good enough divider to keep the ram from operating at too high of a frequency? what divider and what MHz are they currently running at?

Djqurt, this was actually sort of mentioned last week by Durch. I believe memory with a sub-timing of 15 doesn't need anything higher then 2.0volts. Perhaps Durch will chime in to shed some light on this one.
You shouldn't need to provide voltage to your memory if your frequency is below stock. Could you assist us with some CPU-Z screenshots of your OC at 230HTT?

Good luck
