Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB G80

Thread Starter
Hey OC.net'ers, well since I was able to overclock my e6600 to a decent 3.2GHz, i thought that i would overclock my graphics card. I tried to browse around the nvidia section but there were any useless stickies around and the other threads relevant to my graphics card only posted values i should try...

would anyone be able to throw some values around i could initially try that isn't too extreme and values that other people have proven successful? A question for RivaTuner, since it seems the coreclock and shader clock are locked (although it can be delinked), would it be better OC by delinking the two? and also if I raise the core and shader clock, does the mem clock also have to move up at a certain ratio?

I hope you guys can be patient with this noob! but just trying out values without first finding out a lil bit about what i am doing is not the way i want to kill my graphics card!!

thANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

My 8800GTS 320 was able to hit 688/2100. Try that out and see what happens. If it wiggs out, bring it down to 670/2085 and you should be stable.

Mine in sli Get me 15k in 06. Though my board it In rma. Im sad. I think I get 660/1000 in SLI!

You can overclock with the following

NTUNE
ATI TOOL
RIVATUNER.. Make sure you fan speed is at 100%

ATI TOOL lets you scan for stability

And always watch your temperatures

Yeah but that's with a quad-core as well.

You don't HAVE TO have them linked, but it's better that you do. Also the memory will OC independently so no ratio math is required. Just plug in 688/2100 and use ATITool to check for stability. Run ATITool after setting the clock in RivaTuner, and hit the Check For Artifacts button and run that for 5-10 mins. If no errors occur, you're stable and if errors do occur, bring the clocks down to 670 core 2075 memory. If errors occur at 670/2075, bring both down little by little until you can run the artifact scan without errors.

Also, in RivaTuner, under the same area as the OCing if being done, hit the Fan tab and select Direct Control from the drop-down menu, and move the sliders to 85%. You won't see temp differences between 85% to 100% fan speed, at least not notably, and you won't be drawing as much juice. This fan adjustment is necessary for stability as auto-controlled GPU fans tend to nto cool the card well enough.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the input, sgtdisturbed47, in rivertuner my max core is 770, shader max is 1785 and mem clock max is 1190 that i can change my values to. when you said 688/2100 am i to assume 688coreclock and 2100 shaderclock?

also seems like i prefer 85% fan speed since 100% does make a lot more sound!!

it also seems that when i open atitool 0.26 and click scan for artifacts for the other buttons, no window shows up or it does, but instantly dissappears!

Use rivatuner to overclock.

If it were me I would unlink shaders from gpu core and OC them independently. It's more important to get the core up as high as possible than it is keep the shaders linked. IOW, be willing sacrifice a bit of shader speed in order to achieve a bit more core speed. Keeping them linked tends to max out your OC too early due to the shaders hitting their max rather than the core. If you follow me...

I would expect to see an overclock in the neighborhood of 649-672 on the core, a bit over 1500 on the shaders, and 999 (1998 ddr) on the memory.

I think if you want to test for stability you should run the crysis benchmark on fairly high IQ settings a few times through, as well as 3dMark06. I don't trust ATi tool personally.

And use the Rivatuner graphs to see what your ACTUAL clocks are, because the sliders you set are basically 'estimates' - particularly the shader clocks, which tend to jump around in rather large increments.

2100 mem on a 8800GTS320? Unless they've changed since I owned one, that was not even close to possible.

Overclock each of the three things separately, also.

i have an XFX factory oc'd 8800 GTS 320 (g80), the values are in my system link. They are mild compared to other values I have seen here but it might be a good start point. On my stock q6600 I get 11344 in 3dmark06 with these gpu settings, which isnt too shabby.
