RAID question - Page 4

[QUOTE=RussianGrimmReaper;3703069]They don't have to be exactly the same, as long as they are using the same cable (SATA/IDE)

Yes - you are correct - they should be the same though to avoid wasted space

this is the way i would do it. work off the raid when photoshopping and save the finished work and any other important files to the 750GB

Do you know if Norton Ghost 14.0 is good ? as well as partition magic. Should I separate the 1tb RAID space ? Like one part 250gb, another one 500 - well,it's true that if I have a third 500gb or 750gb, i won't need to do it, but 1TB for a single drive is really alot.

I guess that it's ok to let windows on a 1tb space ? It won't tell me that my HDD is almost full again..

I guess if I buy 2x500gb, I will do 1TB raid-0, but.. can i do partition lilke a normal hdd ?

some people use like 150gb to install windows and never touch that space again, i guess it is to minimize fragmentation. but i guess the right size is about 200+gb for a windows partition, it can go to 120gb quite easily and it needs space.

is there any other trick like these ?

because i can't afford a third hdd for backups, so i would make a partition to backup.

500/500, or 250 Windows/500 backup/the rest for the system..etc. I don't know what i will do with partitions.

Partitioning is easy. Follow your motherboard's manual to set up RAID. Once you're in the SB's RAID controller, you will be able to set partitions.

Thanks *******, that was entirely unnecessary. And no, I had a lot of important work files on them that I needed back.
