Q6600 GO overclocked on EX38-DQ6 Mobo - So far all attempts have failed - Please Help

Hi everyone,

I apologise in advance if i have posted in the wrong section. I am new to oc and
really need some advice for my q6600 GO and EX38-DQ6 Motherboard. So far, all
OC attempts have failed. I have tried many different FSB numbers in bios, ranging from 340 to 450 for my CPU, including changing the multiplier as well. 3 - 3.7 GHz - all prevent windows from booting, and most times it can't get past the initial bios boot stage. I am going stir crazy.

To date, I haven't been able to boot into windows on any of these attempts. As I'm inexperienced in this, I have stayed clear of adjusting voltages, with the exception of the northbridge voltage (gave an extra 0.05V). My RAM is corsair XMS 2 PC 6400 (8 GB). PSU is corsair HX 620. Does anybody have any suggestions?

i disabled intel speed step and c1e in the bios, then turned the ratio adjustment from auto to 9.

then try raising the fsb a little at a time, you shouldnt even need to touch the vcore volts at first, because it is a G0 stepping is SHOULD (but might not) get to at least 3GHz easily. I would aim for 2.7GHz as that is the Q6700 speed at first (300X9) (FSBxMultiplier) then boot up and do some stress testing with prime 95. found http://www.majorgeeks.com/Prime95_d4363.html

however make sure your core temps dont go above 70 at the very max (some people say 60 though). A good program to monitor the temps is coretemp, available here http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

good luck, and remember overclock a little then boot into windows to check if it's stable. if its not, try raising the vcore voltage a bit at a time.

edit: might want to fill in your system specs here. http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem
it just makes it a little easier for people to see and help you.
