Need P35/X38 Board for my Q6600 - Page 8

I wouldn't say that you can't do it, but it'll be difficult. However, I still encourage you to try nonetheless.
Have you decided on which mobo you want to get?

Yeah, I'm 95% sure I'm picking up the X38-DS4 from Gigabyte. Newegg has an open box for $140, so with shipping, I should break about even with my old board.

But ok, would i have a chance of getting to 4.0 for just a few tests (not daily use) with my q6600 and a dfi lp lt p35, and a tuniq tower with a yate loon fan?

Or at least 3.9? because i know people with 680i A1's that get to 4.2ghz for superPi runs with TRUE towers and scythe fans.

I figure if people can get that high on a 680i, if I was lucky i could get that high on a 750i which is supposed to be new and improved, or at least on the lt p35.

4Ghz q6600 with a tuniq tower. Temps were mid 40's idle (not fully stable, but enough for cod4)

@ the OP: Get the DFI if you're looking for a highly tweakable board that hits high fsb, the gigabyte if you want easy overclocking.

NICE!

You lap both the tuniq and the q6600?

I'm going with the DFI LT P35 probably... I just don't like the fact that I am skipping over the X38's :/ cause I can get a DFI dk x38 for $195 or so...

I'm uncomfortable about the pci-e 2.0 -_-

P35's don't have pci-e 2.0 right?

Just the tuniq is lapped. I need a bit more Vcore to get it stable, but then temps get out of hand. I don't feel comfortable running it past 68c.
On water I could probably hit 4.3+ if I really tried.

I think gigabyte would hit high enough fsb's for 4ghz wouldn't it? And I do want an X38 if possible.
