I think it would depend on if the mobo/cpu/ram is up to it. I think most X38's will do 450Mhz fsb, although I haven't had any first hand experience with them.

I think for $140 though, the DS4 is a good buy.

I agree.

You should get what you will feel comfortable with. The DFI has great potential, but it is also very aggravating at times trying to get your OC tweaked just right.

With my 965p-s3 all I had to do was set it to 490fsb with my E6300 and it ran like that all @ stock voltages for months.

I think the gigabyte will go nearly as far, and I've gone through a lot of frustrations with this board, even though the bios are easy, so having something moderately simple would be great. On the other hand, the DFI board has a really great pci layout.

Which DFI board? Earlier in this post someone said they hated the DFI DK X38 (even though i hear great things about it from most).

But that open box deal sounds great, but I'm scared of those deals. What exactly would I get with this deal.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131219R

The board is very good from what i hear, and it's open box. The non open box is $220 atm (price went up on newegg alot from when i first saw it).

In the open box you get the board, and what else? Because i have my own sata/ide cables... but i would like the I/O panel -_-

Yeah, I was talking about the X38 one. That was microman, and I respect his opinion a lot. He gets more out of his chips than anyone around here - without extreme cooling at least.

The open boxes could come with everything or could come with only the board, or anywhere in between. However, if you don't get the I/O panel, you should be able to call up Asus and ask for one. Its just a little hassle.

But the board will work right? lol... this isn't some Pre- RMA'd bull**** that gets sent back to me right? They did that to one of my friends who had a 680i... sent him back a diffrent RMA'd 680i that was also fried after he rma'd his first one.

It should be fine. But it is a risk.

Open Box items are used products that when returned, undergo more rigorous testing than products that are being retail boxed.f
