Lights on, nobody's home?

My friend has a Dell and one day, the PC wouldnt turn on. He gave it to me for testing. My first thought was the PSU. I used a spare Rosewill 550watt to see if the system would boot. Sadly, no luck. The light on the mobo was on but the system refused to boot. Can this still mean that the mobo is dead or can something else be causing the problem?

Did you try cmos(remove battery for 10 minutes)How old is the system..cmos battery might be dead.I had one die on me and my computer would turn on but nothing else,I replaced battery and it was good to go..

I tried clearing CMOS. Where can I get another CMOS battery?
walmart or a watch store I'd imagine. They seem to just be a watch battery, unless I'm sadly mistaken

yes they are..usually pretty cheap too,I bought a pack of 4 for $4.00.

bring the battery in to some store that sells batteries and compare the code on the battery to others. Watch stores will probably have more of a selection to choose from, so if you can't find one at wal-mart...
