I really need Help! Qx6850

Thread Starter
Well my story started out in January when i decided i had enough money to build the system of my dreams. so i started shopping around and i ended up with the following parts

Processor
Intel Qx6850-Watercooled BTW

Motherboard
Asus Striker Extreme

Memory
1gb-4x ocz2n800sr2gk SLI-ready

Video Card
8800 GTX water cooled!

And a few other odd-ended parts that include raid and a Network Card by Killer.

Now i had this system setup by a computer engineer. He was a relative of mine and he had everything put together and ran the comp. It started out but gave him all sorts of trouble... So after he handled those he gave it to me and said congrats you have a new beast! so i took it home and turned it on.

It would keep freezing so i gave up and decided i'll check it out in the morning
I checked it out in the morning and noticed that when the computer is off for a good 24 hours and i put the memory and start it up it runs for 15 mins after its heated up it just freezes.... im guessing this doesnt have anything to do with the memory... i am running water cooling though...

So now im stuck at a cross road.. Either Dump the motherboard and the memory and get a new combo or.... Keep the motherboard and get new memory or keep the memory and dump the motherboard....

Where i need help is to decide on which would be the best and Most stable. Its been 4 months now and i still haven't been able to use this computer and right now im running on a HP 2.8 ghz 1gb slowpoke that im ready to burn with a flame thrower... So i need help!! I need something that i can basically plug it in do the settings and not have to do maintenance for another 4 years... LOL so please help me! thanks!

Okay i filled out my specs. I hope everyone likes them i tried hard to get the best but i may have made errors... I'm kind of a noob.

I called up Asus and they told me that mobo supports Quad core. I reflashed to the latest bios but i guess it really didnt Support it..

Which Mobo do you suggest i want something top of the line.

I had this motherboard and it is Picky with RAM. I had it up to 3.6mhz until it decided to not play nice with my OCZ PC2-8500 (stock 1066mhz) Ram. I called Asus and they told me to use DDR-6400s. I did and it ran well after that, just no RAM OCing.

Make sure it's an A1 revision or it will be just as bad as the Asus for overclocking. Have you gone into the BIOS and checked voltages, ect?
