evga 780i question - Page 2

I just had this exact same thing happen last night...

While putting all my parts together I did a test boot and everything went fine, then I shut down and added HDDs, optical drive ect. and the thing wouldn't boot.

I finally got it working when I set the bios jumper and removed the battery and then went to dinner

Also just take out everything off the mobo and set them aside, then re-seat everything just to make sure thats not the problem.

steps to take

move jumper to CLRCMOS position (look in manual, it MIGHT be pos. 2-3)

hit reset button

remove battery

reset button again, power button (on the board or if your case is connected)

let the cmos clear... I would suggest 1 hour to be MAXIMUM safe

Suggestion: try taking mobo out of the case and booting it on cardboard - using barebones only - RAM CPU and GFX....if it boots, add 1 thing at a time till you step on the nail

no, you need to acttually clear the cmos

moving the jumper 'unlocks' your cmos to allow it to be cleared.

No, don't boot up. Move the jumper to the clearcmos, take out the battery, and push the little reset button on the board a few times. Leave out the battery for at least 10 minutes. Then put the jumper back and plug in the battery.

If you want to be really thorough unplug the power supply from the board while doing this as well.

I know.

Like I've said, I think you have a bad board. Time to RMA. Longer you wait the longer it's gonna take to get it going.
