Where I work, I have no end of people asking about windows xp machines, and it is often a case of people walking out because they can only find Vista based machines on sale.

The problem I have is this: Half of said people, when I question them on their distaste for vista, often reply with 'A friend of a friend said it was buggy, deletes files, hard to work, etc'.

Barely any of these people have had first hand experience with windows vista, and are just basing their opinions on FUD and word of mouth.

And even then, the original idea's come from those who probably used pirated RC's of vista which were buggy as sin.

I use vista 32, and will soon be upgrading to 64.

Vista, in my opinion, is a step forward, if a minor one, but it is a step forward. The GUI is clean, elegant and pretty easy to use. Load up times are quicker in the long run thanks to superfetch. Gaming performance is marginally slower, but I dont count 1-2fps loss as that big of a deal anway.

But that is just my opinion, and im sure people will have different opinions of vista, but I shall end with this:

DO NOT BASE YOUR OPINIONS ON HEARSAY OR RUMORS. Try vista yourself, and if you still hold your opinion strong, I will respect your opinion.

if everybody who uses vista are willing to spend $60 to get 4gb of ram there will be a lot less complaints.

or maybe a cheap dedicated graphics card

BUT!!! i never had a problem with XP and game not like i do with vista. i cant run FEAR, Doom3 crysis gives me problems, gears of war took some tweaking to get it to work and NFS carbon is a little jumpy. the only game that works for me in vista with 100% no problems is BF2 BF2142 COD4 and GTA SA so lets hope they scrap XP and fix vista.
Wow completely different for me. F.E.A.R and Doom3 worked perfectly while bf2/bf2142 have a little issues hear and there. (mostly driver isssues, rare ones at that) Don't have GTAsa or COD4 so I wouldn't know about those.

Good post, truth spoken.

I work in elec-retail and have experienced those same nay-sayers who are going on an opinion formed by "their mates" who "know a bit about computers" (Hell - he must know cos he made his own system! (ooh wow!))

+r for that.

Well i think By ''DownGrading" to Xp We are Really Upgrading to a Less Demanding, More Familiar Operating System..

I dont Really Want To go in the Vista Vs Xp Performance thing... but i think its what people think and feel... Benchmarks Cant Measure that
