Triple Monitor Question...?

Thread Starter
Ok, so as per my sig, I have an 8800GTS 512mb that I overclocked a little bit.

This 8800 is currently running a 22' Samsung 226cw and a 19' Dell 1905FP.

If I buy this graphics card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130310

And put a third monitor on it, will this result in any performance loss of any kind?

And do you think this graphics card is what I need for triple monitors?

Thanks for the help in advanced!

I would leave the GTs powering one main monitor, and get a new video card with two outputs for the OTHER monitors.

As for your link, maybe you want to aim a little higher.
7200 series and up?

Ok I get what you mean, keep my 8800 running my 22' while the secondary card runs the other two 19'. That would work.

Also, I WAS thinking about this graphics card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130097

But some of the reviews said it overheated alot, not sure if dual monitors would effect that or not.

Also, I might hunt for a GPU with 2x DVI port... I am a DVI man .

Scratch that, I don't think 2x DVI ports come until the 8*** series, don't want to spend that much.

So maybe you'll have to do what you first thought of.
I'm not too sure how that works and how exactly performance is effected.
Bump for someone who knows.

Be aware that both Nvidia cards will have to run off the same driver, as you can not install two different Nvidia drivers at the same time.

Nvidia uses a unified driver so when you plug in the new card it will be found and work fine. Having said that the newer drivers for the 8-series do not support six series cards. Most of the time you need to get at least the same series for it to work. Like a low end 8-series like an 8400 or 8500. If you get a 6200 you will have to downgrade drivers to ones the work with both cards. Also, it doesnt matter if you run two on the first card or two on the second. The performance drop isnt even noticeable. BTW i have two nvida 7600GT cards on a P5e pushing four monitors.

Don't 174.74 drivers work with both the 8 Series and the 6 Series? Or did I read up information incorrectly?

You can get two DVI on a card older than 8 series. Not sure about nvidia but I know some of the ATI X800 series had two DVI and those are much older than the 8 series.

My 7600GT has dual DVI outputs. It was only $70 too. You can have it for $50, its practically brand new.
