What are things i need to watch for when buying them?

How much is a used one worth?

Should i get one or a e8400 for gaming?

Thanks for any comments and sorry if this is a double post in the forum. Im just trying to get a feel for the new procs...

well more then likely you will get the Q6600 GO then the B3<-- is old and almost all local and online stores have the Go revision so you shouldn't have nothing to worry :-)

Why people want a G0 compare to a B3, is that G0 Q6600 they have a higher thermal temperature limit for the cpu, thus it can overclock better. As for gaming, I would say go with E8400. Most games don't run with 4 cores yet. However, for a future-proof cpu, go with the Q6600. Nowdays the Q6600 is around $200 so you can probably get a used one for a little less than that.

I'm gonna echo puzzledazn here a little...

As far as games go - I can't really think of many (any) that will utilize 4 cores yet - however - most of the benchmarks will. You probably won't notice a difference in any game between the E8400 and the Q6600. Most of your performance will be generated by the GPU.

So - If you want higher benchmarks (which means practically nothing in the games) take the Quad - other wise - take the E8400. By the time games use all 4 cores - and the rate they release new chips...you will probably want to upgrade to the E1150000 or Q1960000 (lol) anyway.

If you do go with the quadcore, you can get it online at Fry's for $190.

Or the E8400 for $200 when more are in stock (price might jump too).

Doubt you'll see a noticable difference in games with a 3.6GHz overclocked Q6600 versus a 4.0GHz overclocked E8400. Since the quad is cheaper and in stock I'd probably just grab that, but no matter which you choose you'll be quite happy.

You should wait until.... April 20? Thats when the prices on the Intel CPU's go down officially I think....

They should go down even more with the store sales?
