1. You must genuinely need the CPU cooling that a high pressure mod'd Infinity can provide

2. You must not be afraid or inadequate to the charge/challenge of assembling the pressure mod'd Infinity

3. Only those OCN members with 10 reps, 20 days on the site, and 20 posts will be eligible to receive this free air cooling boon.

4. You have to promise to post a detailed work log/review once the cooler is installed in your system.

5. I'll PM and post the decided recipient sometime before the year 2009. That's a relaxed enough time-frame...

1 - Ok so I dont genuinely need a new cooler, i've got my Freezer 7 Pro which does a good job at lower voltages. However i do intend on upping them to reach that elusive 3.4 mark. I reckon a bit of high pressure Infinity love would sort me out some.

2 - What sorta tools we gonna need to install this beauty? I have limited resources at this current residence, but back home i have more than enough when it comes to pliers, screwdrivers, and general bits an bobs.
Either way - I like to think i'm pretty handy when it comes to this sorta thing, and even if it is a bit above me, i'm always up for a challenge!

3 - Fully fledged member here.

4 - I'm a student, nothing but time on my hands

5 - No problem at all, I aint goin' anywhere..

1. My HTPC is now set to convert all my recordings to H.264 on the fly. Because of that, the little thing heats up quite a bit. Stock AMD cooler is not the best thing in the world, and OC'ing to get faster conversion would help a lot. Hence, I need some better cooling

2. I have set up my own watercooling loop multiple times, and I am pretty sure this will not be as hard!

3. <-- I have been here a while.

4. I take lots of pictures. 'nuff said.

5. I don't plan on getting abducted, dying, spontaneously combusting, or dissappearing anytime soon, so time is no object!

Re TOOLS:

...

It just so happens that I mounted my TRUE the other day with the very same hardware (bolts/washers/springs/etc.) ...

Since temps were about the same as my standard TRUE mount, however ... I went ahead and reseated with my typcial TRUE mounting gear.

I do happen to have a detailed picture/work log of the mount involving the TRUE and I'll post some mounting tips/tool pics in a bit.

Mostly just a small socket to lock things down and then I used the thumbscrews/gnurled knobs to secure everything against vibrating or backing off.

...

Here's some shots from the TRUE mount earlier this week; this is identical to what would be necessary to mount the Infinity; my guess (oh I'm just itching to do a quick comparison) is that the Infinity will be about the same temp/performance as the TRUE (maybe a couple degrees worse but maybe comparable).

I used the Infinity for a year on my 3.6ghz E6400 and temps were gravy.

There you have it.

Yes. Complete removal of your motherboard will be required.

Little bit of effort but fun and well worth it in the end.

A guy named "Enzo" or something or other ... over on the OCFORUMs site, did a side by side.

He upgraded from his AC7FPro to the Infinity.

With the stock push pins mount, the Infinity was about identical to the AC7 but once he pressure modified it, the Infinity was 5 or 6 degrees better.

Here's the thread (from back in the day) at OCForums: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=494855
