I ahve sused it all out. Its ok to to cover it with the cleat laquer but it must be done with 3 VERY light coats. I have also changed the paint idea a little. I will now be using metallic silver as one layer that pearescent black ontop before i coat it with the laquer... make it look a bit more fancy

Well i have had to scap a bit of the painting plan. Pearlescent paint (250mL tub).... wait for it.... $100<!!!!!!!! so ummm yeah... wont be doing that now. Still got the primer though (S.L.S. Etch Primer) and Metallic paint as well as Lacquer finish. I will so some experiments with some black and red paint with the metallic to see if i can master any cool affects before i go onto my case. I also got some beautiful merchindise!!!!

Started to do some testing of different paint options. Sprayed the primer on this afternoon.

Test subject. Mwahahaha

Sand it back to remove any contaminants

And sprayed on the Primer

Looks good so far, I love the way the rivets look, gives it that industrial look to it. Im not sure if i read things right but are you going to crossfire a 3870 and a 3870x2, If so thats going to be a nice hybrid tri crossfire setup. Keep up to good work, It might be kinda odd but with the blue paint i would paint the rivets on the out side just because i like that look, make them like a black, just a suggestion.

do not use lacquer clear on your paint job if the paint is not also lacquer!

was just reading about lacquers and I realized, then independently confirmed, the lacquer clear will eat away at acrylic enamels faster than you can say OFFS! (oh for f**k sake!)

If the paint is lacquer paint then I guess its ok, but not sure. Seems like lacquers are primarly used for other things like metal or pottery and such, to seal and clear them. Even your can in the pic says for copper and brass etc

just figured i'd throw this out there. sorry for the red screamy letters

Yeah iv now got a Tri-Fire Gaming rig set up. Except im having some issues with performnace, not just a lack in performnace but a drop in performance from my old set up. Anyone knows what is going on i have a thread in the ATI section.

If thats right CattleRustler than the red bold letters are quite appropriate. Thats what this practice pannel is for. So i can do as many stuff-ups as i like before i begin on my case.

I do have a piece of aluminium that i just sprayed gloss black onto to see if i needed a primer. It still stuch and hasnt flacked but it did run. I will test some of the lacquer on this straight away once i get home from school.

let us know how it goes. that info was from some pro painters forum.
regarding primer, do yourself a favor, prime the parts before painting them. the paint will hold on much better. you can test it by painting two small test scraps, one with primer one without. after they are are primed and painted and dried, take something like a coin and scuff them equally, or drop the coin on the surfaces, the primed part will hold the paint longer/stronger than the unprimed part

Yeah, i sprayed some of that clear laquer onto a peice of the aluminium that i had just sprayed some gloss black onto and it just ate it away. Im glad you pointed that out to me, ...and that is a good lesson why you practice and test these things before you do the real deal boys and girls. Thats all for today from the excitting chapters from case modding. O sorry got a bit carried away there. I have two coats of Metallic paint on my test subject now so this afternoon i will be practicing my design with coulours over the top. Will up date tonight for you all (Australian time - roughly 12-15 hours ahead of america).
