What are the max temps for a Q9450 under load?
I am logging my temps with RealTemp while im playing games, when i look back @ the logg my max temp of the cores is 63 degrees.
Isn't this a bit to high for a 45nm + Scythe Mugen?
Q9450 @ 3.2 GHz!

Thread Starter
At 3.4ghz i get to 63-64c underload. At 3.6ghz (kind of unstable) I goto 71c! This is in CoreTemp. I really hope these temps are dead wrong because these are ridiculously high temps. I idle at 47-50c!!!

You may want to try reseating. I get lower load temps with a Q6600 G0 @ the same clock and voltage. CoreTemp reads 10c higher than RealTemp though so you may actually be running in the 53-54c area.

Also the Q6600 is much cheaper than the 9450. So why bother with the more expensive, apparently lower overclocking chip?
Clock for clock the Q9450 is 5-10% better than a Q6700. In media apps, it can be up to 40% because it supports SSE4.1

I don't think so.
A lot of people who has a Q9450 has high temps.
Like i said, if i look to my cores its something like this loaded.
63 - 59 - 60 - 55
And my Mugen is correctly mounted.
It must be something else or these are the correct temps, wich is horrible for a 45nm.

Mines is running great temps. Idles@ high 20's, load is around high 30's low 40's.

i am using Hyper 212 w/dual fans. I think this heatsink is overlooked at with the performance I get from it. i was able to OC my old E6600 to 3.6GHz with lows 30's for temps even with a supposedly bad batch. Also I believe our cpu's TJmax is 95, not 105 which is what coretemp is using. Use this program called realtemp. Google it and you will find it. Alot of 45nm users are using that program I believe. But yeah the hyper 212 belongs right there with the thermalright 120 Ultra but thats just my opinion casue I get great temps with the hyper.
