I tried 450fsb with 1.352v with no luck. My temps went up to 71c in CoreTemp in a few minutes.

I also tried 437FSB, it was more stable but still it failed one of the worker threads in Prime95.

I'm happy with 3.4ghz!
Great OC my friend! Try speeding your RAM up a bit, the timings are really loose for that speed. Push 'em to 900 or so and try and get that 450FSB. Make sure you use RealTemp 2.4 instead of CoreTemp. I say keep at it!

I just used RealTemp, I'm 40c idle and 54c under load. It's about 10c lower than CoreTemp! Don't use CoreTemp with these processors. I'm going to try and get higher than 3.4ghz and tighten up my ram timings

I tried going to 3.6, but it would freeze after a couple minutes on the desktop, even with 1.41volts in the BIOS.

I tried 3.8ghz with 1.42v in BIOS and it wouldn't even POST.

I'm at 3.456ghz right now stable. Going to tweak it some more by lowering the vcore to see the lowest temps I can get. Maybe smokingcivic just got a good chip, or maybe I just got a bad one

They can be as popular as they want, but I doubt they can out perform a TRU1E($60) or an IFX-14($75). Which are THE best coolers on the market, no other air cooler can match them. A Tuniq Tower 120($45), which might be the most popular cooler on OCN for budget minded over****ers, can perform within 2-3C of a TRU1E.

The temps of the Q9450 are very odd.
I have couple of programs.

- RealTemp
- SpeedFan
- Everest Ultimate

The temps are like this:

RealTemp:
Cores:
Idle: 40-39-40-38
Load: 60-59-60-58

Everest Ultimate:
Cores:
Idle: 50-49-50-48
Load: 70-69-70-68

CPU:
Idle: 20
Load: 40

This is weird huh.

SpeedFan:
Doesn't shows core temps, but only cpu.
Idle: 20
Load: 40

Same as Everest.

What should i believe?
The core temps or the cpu temp?

Hmm, i have readed allot of threads on this forum about the Q9450.
As allot of people are saying it's just a bug. And maybe it will be fixed sooner or later.
We will see.

Stick with the single digit "CPU Temp" Intel bases it's maximum heat through that.

If i look @ the single digit CPU temp, my idle and my load is perfect.
I hope this temperature is good.

damn Mr. Harris that sucks that the chip you got cant go any further. I really want to see more Q9450's around 3.6-3.8. I should have looked at my batch number first before installing it or at least write it down or took a picture of it. I will probably do that this weekend so we can have a database like the Q6600 which batches are better at overlocking.
