I'll look around and see which ones go best with my rig.

BTW, the board that came DOA was the DFI LanParty LT P35-T2R.. similar to yours

anyway, hopefully I can figure out why I'm getting random reboots
Your random reboots are due to instability of the system. Your Memory DDR2 533 is designed to run 1:1 with your Q6600 at Stock Speed (2.4GHz and 266 FSB). But since your CPU FSB is now at 312 MHz, your memory is not able to match it at 1:1.

Here is another idea, is there a setting in your BIOS that will allow you to use Dividers. In effect if you can change a setting in the BIOS, you can then run your memory at 266 MHZ or slower while you increase the speed of the CPU.

Well in this link: http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ing-guide.html

The BIOS setup is exactly the same. Do you see anything you mentioned? BIOS is Phoenix technologies in case you're wondering.. Asus P5N32-E SLI ACPI BIOS Revision 1205

Well I read quite a few Post, and the only screen that I could make sense of being a NON-ASUS user is the middle screen in a set of 5 on the bottom of Page 1 in that thread. It says you can unlink the relationship between FSB and memory, so you can try that.

Also you may want to read these posts. 62.63,79, 4786,4804,4805,4808,4816,4818,4819. Also give Robilar and Persian a Private Message or go to that Thread for help.

They do suggest the Corsair RAM that I gave a Link to and maybe your non success with the DFI board could have been this SuperTalent RAM if you had tried to use (I am guessing here).

Anyway try to Unlink and then check the memory tab on CPUz to see if the DRAM Frequency is slower.
Also some of those posts I listed talk about the Command Rate at 1T, so there you go, you can do it.
Also they (Poster=Persian) talk about this Board not being Q6600 friendly and I don't know if your Bios Version 1205 will help (The post # listed some noise about problems with Q6600)

I just emailed a friend who has an Asus Board, here is his response.

not a mobo for quads....

some dividers on Asus don't let you do that...That's why i use the crucials...

if you want to OC a quad on ASUS you have 3 choices, ASUS P5K-E, Premium or Mine, ASUS P5K deluxe

Maybe it was the RAM.. Idk.. the hexadecimal display showed two F's if I recall correctly on the DFI motherboard. I couldn't find anything on the manual explaining this though.

I'll look up some RAM right now on newegg

Yes from the List I gave you anyone of those look suitable, as I just looked at what folks were using on the ASUS P5N-32 thread that you link to, it appears folks are using OCZ DDR2 8500, Corsair Dominators DDR2 8500, G-Skill DDR2 6400, Crucial Ballistics DDR2 8500 or Crucial DDR2 6400 .

Just look and see what you can afford, you seem to like fast timings so select something with CAS 4-4-4-12 or for more stability 5-5-5-15

Memory is pretty now, so look ahead and grab a good set.

I can't use the OCZ DDR2 8500 1066MHz right? On the back of my motherboard box it states: DDR2=800/667/533 non-ECC, unbuffered memory.

and they're so pretty too

Well you may need to update your BIOS, and this user has the same board as you do
PersianOverClocker http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...guide-483.html

If you don't want the get the DDR2 8500, just get DDR2 6400 which is equivalent to the 800.

If you do decide on the DDR2 6400 that will enable you to do 400X9 = 3.6GHz, providing all goes well, but I cannot see why not unless you need to update your BIOS.
