Q6600 Max Volt is about 1.5V but why

Thread Starter
Intel Website says Q6600 SLACR is 1.5V,
However I recieved a new Q6600, which shows folowing information.

S-SPEC: SLACR
PROD CODE: BX80562Q6600

PACK DATE: 03/19/08

VERSION #: E10342-003 1.35V max.

I was wondering why it would say 1.35 as max instead of 1.5?
Anyone know?

Thanks

Because they don't want you to burn your CPU up with stock cooling.

I don't think that 1.35v is in relation to V Core. Or that may be the max the stock cooler can cope with.

Thanks,

I would Like an advice on cooler.
Thinking
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 or OCZ Vendetta, Board Ga-P35-DS3L

or anyone you guys can recommend, under $50.

If I instal Stock cooler now, is there any problem removing it? i.e. leaving residue of the TIM from the stock cooler?

Thanks

Don't know about price in the US, but the best air cooler is the Thermalright 120 Extreme, only thing is that you need to buy a fan as it dosent come with one.
I run mine with a Scythe Kase and a Scythe Slipstream on my quad,

You can clean off the TIM with Isopropyl Alcohol. Stock cooling won't let you OC much if thats what you mean just watch your temps using HW Monitor or such.

As to your choice of aftermarket cooler, I personally use a Xigmatech, I did alot of research before picking it up. While the TRUE ((T)hermal(R)ight(U)ltra(E)xtreme)) Is pretty amazing when you lap both it and the CPU. I choose Xigma because I somewhat value the warrenty and didn't feel like lapping my parts. Also Many places , myself behind them now, Claim the temps are extremly low. I'm running 3.2 ghz with 1600 qFSB (3.6 Effectivly) and My temps idle at 35c load at 55c

Here's a pick of it in the case, and some links to a few of the reviews I looked at before picking it up, also, a link to egg with the item in question, 36 bucks!

In the cosmos1000 case. (Full Size case)

A lilttle gameplay but I sit nearly idle @ 38c with 3.2 ghz 1600 qFSB (400 x 8 Multi)
the 51c was from a 3dMark06 Benchtest, the heat is from the cpu test.

And the reviews:

I read a benchmark recently that showed the OCZ Vendetta 2 beating the Ultra Extreme. There were something like 10-12 heatsinks that were benchmarked and the Ultra Extreme actually placed in the middle of the pack when it came to lowest temps, and the Vendetta 2 took 1st.

This is your best bet under $50

You can install the stock HSF(heat sink Fan) and install the new cooler after.
Just be sure to clean off the CPU before. I clean off the old stuff with Goof off( from any hardware store) on either a coffee filter or an old sheet.

that benchmark was without lapping the true. If you leave it at stock, the TRUE is pretty mediocre, but when expose the copper it does very well. They reasoned in that review that the average user wouldn't be lapping any cooler, so the tested the true unlapped
post #10 of 15
You only need to lap the heatsink sometimes, depends on the manufacturing, i have lapped mine and has dropped about 3-4 degrees.
My temps are perfectaly fine up to 3.9ghz [haven't gone higher]
