Fancy a case with a professional custom paintjob, but have the artistic skills of a chimp in a pool of paint? Cooler Master may have the answer for you

After snazzing up its stylish Cosmos chassis, Cooler Master now clearly sees a gap in the market for cases with a difference. The next step, however, appears to be super-fancy custom paint jobs, as it’s just launched an online store to purchase amazing paint designs that range from a ‘Red Shag Wagon’ to a Spartan Warrior.

The cases were painted by Smooth Creations, which wowed us last year with its Celtic cross and Diamond Plate paint jobs on Cooler Master Stacker 832 cases at YoYo Tech. Smooth Creations has now teamed up with Cooler Master’s CSX division, which is dedicated to producing custom paint jobs on both laptop and desktop cases.

CSX showed off a fair few of its designs, such as a VW van paintjob, at CES in January this year, but this month announced that it’s selling the painted cases online.

Check out the online store to see if anything takes your fancy. They’re not cheap, though. An Orange ‘Shag Wagon’ will set you back $799.99 US (£405.53), but this is still significantly cheaper than the £650 asking price for the Celtic Cross case last year.

Would you pay the extra money for a professionally painted case, or would you take a chance and try to do it yourself? Let us know your thoughts.

Before anyone makes an irrational comment regarding the prices, these are intended to be functional works of art. If you cannot grasp nor appreciate art, then you're not going to have much positive to say, so best not to say it at all.

Sorry, but I've seen Cooler Master ripped to shreds a number of times for the pricing on their CSX chassis.

I applaud these, they're very well done. However, couldn't you simply hire an artist to paint your case instead? I'm not ripping on the cases, and I would buy one if I could afford it, but it seems that hiring an artist might be cheaper plus more conforming to your particular tastes.

Meh, my opinion.

first one is pretty funny, second is just plain badass. Especially if you put a red led where the eye is

Maybe if it were a solid color, you could easily have an automotive paintshop paint it well, some of those designs are a little complex, so it might actually be a good deal.
