$90 problem

Thread Starter
I'm building my friend a gaming rig on a 1600 dollar budget and I've run into a "$90 problem".

The thing is that I only have $90 left over and he still needs to get a keyboard and soundcard for gaming.

I need some suggestions !

rep for those who actually help

bah...get one or the other and then wait to upgrade until later. Dont compromise both of them

Glad I read the post right. I honestly dont know. If it were me I would get the keyboard and not a sound card? I dont thing a $45 keyboard and $45 sound card would be the best idea

unless he's using surround sound, he doesn't *need* a soundcard. Most modern mobos have pretty decent onboard sound, so if he's using a 2 or 2.1 setup then he'll be fine.

My mobo (see below) supports my 5.1 sound system just fine (creative g500) so you should be fine.

hmm....haven't tried my 540's with onboard yet so i don't know.... X-fi's are pretty good, but costly. If you're gonna put XP on it you could just go grab one of those Audigy's that they sell for cheap now.

You can get the XtremeGamer for $10 cheaper at Newegg. That will put you even closer.

Yeah I agree. The only reason I got my self a soundcard is it's "What U Hear" Feature which allows me to steal music. I mean...pay for it. Hehe. The Logitech G15 is by far one of the best Gaming Keyboards on the market and I can say from personal experience that this things rocks.Newegg has it for $90. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126034
Their was a price hike due to a shortage apparently cause it used to be $60 on the egg. I would recommend nothing but the G15 for your friend especially if hes going to game. Again not much need for a sound card. Tell us ur mobo just to make sure it has suffecient built in sound. If you abs. need one get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102002
I use it and can say nothing bad about it. But again put that 90 towards the G15 and unless your friend is going 7.1 surround (in that case, can he adopt me) I wouldnt recommend a sound card.
