Over the weekend, I swapped a barely used (maybe 20 hours total run time) Earthwatts 430 into one of my folding rigs. I've had an Earthwatts 380 on a nearly identical rig (same mobo, RAM, optical drive, WC pump, similar CPU, etc.) for a few months, and it has worked great. An hour or so ago, the fan on the 430 kicks on to high. I give it a couple of minutes to calm down, and then shut off the folding clients. Even at idle, the fan continues to go full blast. At that point, I shut it down, blow out any dust in it (shouldn't be much at all since I cleaned it out just over 48 hours ago), and let it rest for a while. When I started it back up, the fan was at its normal, nearly silent operation. It kicked back on high soon after, though, and has only down shifted for a few brief instances.

Since the 380 is doing great on an extremely similar system and it's on high at idle, I can't imagine it's an issue of not having enough juice. Do you think it has a bum temperature sensor or some problem? Winter is rearing its head one final time, and my computer room is nice and cool. Even when spring was here in full force, the 380 was always dead quiet.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want this PSU to fry and take any of my other components along with it. I can swap out PSUs if I absolutely need to, but I hate to tear up two systems that I just finished rebuilding (and did a decent job with cable management no less), and I really want the 80+ PSU on my 24/7 rig. I noticed a nice drop on my power bill when I swapped out an OCZ 700 Watter for the 380, and it never missed a beat in performance.
