Wow thats some post, really appreciate the time and effort that took definatly deserves a +1 rep for that . yes i will go and disable those and ill run orthos overnight just to make sure.I also free'd up some space because im hoping to get my 8800gts g92 this week so i needed to do a bit of cleaning i also need to use my compressor coz theres a fair bit of dust on fans but not on mobo and cpu fan but there is on gpu fan so in theory i have good airflow? Anyway thanks again for the post and goodnight all

You're welcome. I enjoyed typing that post up. I wouldn't want anyone to be as much in the dark as I was when I started overclocking.

That indeed was a well written post. 5Cheese, you are quite the efficient helper, if i do say so myself. Between this and my X-Fi thread you must have written a good.. err.. fwe thousand words??

Out of curiousity, does anyone know which batches were the good ones for the E6600 ?

hehe yeah, I am a self-professed windbag. Oddly enough, I could easily make this simple reply be a 20 minute read.

Anyway, thanks. You flatter me. I guess I just do what I do while I'm here. It makes me really happy to know that I was helpful and not something else.

most E6600s are not the best overclockers. i had one that would only do 3.4 at 1.56 vcore. i tried to burn it up. i had it at 75C before for hours and the damn thing wouldnt die lol so dont worry about temps.

There was a thread which was similar to this that I had posted. A guy posted on how to overclock my old E6600. Let me dig it up for you.

EDIT: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...bie-alert.html

Here it is! Just read some of the many posts from the helpful users!

Well just ran orthos over night and was stable and no errors so i can safely say this oc is stable enough for my liking anyway.

Attachment 70817
Also you think ill be fine running vista x64 on this pc with the card im getting (gts g92)ive done it before but i had bad fps on games (due to S*** graphics card) everything else was fine. Any thoughts because i have gears of war, assasins creed and company of heroes and flight simx and expansion(get this with the card i think if not still got some decent games .

Wow, if you're getting an 8800GTS, then I have this feeling that you're going to have a really, really, really fun time gaming.

Although, I've read a few people saying that they prefer XP for gaming. So, you might want to start off with a dual-boot just to do some comparisons.

Would that be a good idea? you have me thinking now...
