In English class you learn to argue the future. I can predict the future

That's what sounds most accurate to me, anyway. Of course we don't know for sure. But from a business standpoint, I don't see releasing OSX for any computer as a beneficial move to Apple.

Sorry if I make a comment about the article, but I really felt no surprise at the outcome of the openmac situation.
Apple is becoming the new Microsoft, people apparently are just not realizing it.

Wait…you mean they both make software?

Woah, I never saw that one coming.

I really hope you're only talking about video editing/music creation/photo editing software that comes stock with apple computers... because if you are a serious photo or video editor, you DO NOT use the applications that come with any computer...
So your point is only valid for people who only casually make youtube videos or make (lol) garage band songs....

edit: Mac Pros are good for video editors. A macbook pro isnt really powerful enough to run Final cut and arpeture. If it's something you do often
!
Final Cut and Avid both run hundreds of times better on PCs than they do on Macs, Period.

People who use macs for video editing are either just trying to be "In with the fad" or they simply know absolutely nothing about computers besides their video editing software...

And I'm saying this from experience, At my school (I take a specialized course in Video Production in a separate HS that I go to every day for 2 hours, and then take my other classes back at my normal school) we have a Mac that cost around 2500 dollars that the teacher bought about 3 months ago, and a PC that the computer technology class built for us more than 6 months ago that cost them about 2000 dollars(Quad core Q66 and an ATI FireGL V7600 I believe), and I can tell you, Avid renders video effects so much faster on the PC its really not even funny.

No, I meant they both rule their product ownership with an iron fist.
They are acquiring the "The Man" image that MS is trying to get rid of right now.

Actually, check this out:

http://www.wired.com/gadgets/mac/new...?currentPage=2

But really, why would we expect any different? The EULA states its terms. That is the way Apple wants its software to be licensed. OF COURSE it's no surprise they are taking the action they are taking.

Right...

But unfortunately for us, FCP only runs on Macs.

What? How do those equate? That statement just doesn't work.

It's about the software, not the hardware speed. idk if you're a PC elitist or not, but this is one concept that PC elitists just can't grasp.

Portability isnt worth the starting price of $1800. If you can drop $1800 on a new laptop just because it's a little thinner and lighter you can send me some money to help me with my bills.

They're selling a computer and making a profit off the hard work of people like Kalyway and JaS, the people who make OSX86 even possible.

Oh and I'm sure their support is great. Like you really think they'll explain to you how to install a new IONetworkingFamily.kext and repair permissions when you want to get time machine to work?

Also why do they include a retail Leopard install disc and say their PC hardware supports "an unmodified OSX kernel" as if you just pop it in and let it install. I bet their customers will be happy when they try to reformat and figure out nothing works because everything needs a modified kext. And the Insanelymac community will be happy when all said customers come back to bug them with questions like HURRRR HOW DO I GET MAC 2 WORK
