NB 70c Idle! - Page 2

I could tell from the title of this thread that it was a 780i, and its not because of the cooling they use, its because of the process used.

Wow, what a helpful post. I wish everyone could contribute this much to each thread.

I had some crazy temps on my NB as well. I replaced all the TIM and it made a substantial difference. I honestly doubt it adversely affects your system though, my roommate refuses to change his paste, and his will hit nearly 80, and its been running that way for around 9 months now.

what kind of paste can one use? something like mx2? I have to take out my mobo tommorow to install water cooling so I might as well give this a shot, though last time I checked mines idles at 52c

I used AS Ceramique for mine, worked wonders.

Another vote here for the TT Extreme Spirit II's. Took 30 degrees off my NB temp!

You have to remember that those won't work for the 780i though. There is another chip next to the north bridge that would be uncovered. Which = fried.

Ah my mistake, sorry. On a lowly 680i still
