First Time Build Trouble

Thread Starter
After months of research, I built my first rig last weekend. The specs are in my system details. It booted on the first try and everything was going well. Just for fun, I ran 3DMark06 and got a score of 5604.

This seems really low to me! Any ideas on what is wrong??
(everything was running the latest drivers and everything was at stock clocks and stock voltages)

Is your HSF turned all the way down? How many fans are inside your case? Is it really really hot inside your home?

Those temps are fine, however I reccomend turning Thermal Throttling off in the bios anyway.

I have 2 120mm fans / my 120mm power supply fan / 1 80mm fan blowing on my video card. I will turn off thermal throttling and see if that helps.

Bremaine, did you disable cool'n'quiet? What resolution are you running 3DMark06? The default resolution is 1280x1024. Is there a reason why you need 4GB of memory? Four sticks of memory can put a substantial amount of stress on your IMC(integrated memory controller) when you start overclocking as oppose to 2 sticks of memory.

Let us know

Good luck

Yea that's too low. My E2180 at 2.0GHz scored the same as my 4200+ overclocked to 2.6GHz when I had my 7900GT. I now have a 9600GT, so your 2.6GHz 5000BE should give an almost identical score to my E2180/9600GT, which was 8000. You should at least be getting above 7000.

What drivers are you using? Are you sure you installed the newest drivers for the GeForce 9xxx series?

Try manually setting the basic options in the BIOS. Set the CUP multiplier to 13x, reference clock to 200MHz, memory to DDR2 800, set the timings manually (at least the main ones), set the HT multiplier to 5x, set the CPU and memory voltage manually (to stock voltage for your parts), bump up the NB voltage a notch or two since you're using 4 DIMMs and turn off cool'n'quiet.

Silly question, but you're not running anything else in the background while running 3DMark06 are you?

I would download gpu-z and check the pci-e link speed is at 16x not 1x. That IS a low score for that card.

Thanks for all the replies!

First off, I have 2 sticks of ram, each with 2gigs DDR2. Secondly, I do have cool n' quiet disabled. I ran 3dmark at the default resolution with only asus probe running in the background. I am not able to try any of your suggestions until friday as I have exams the rest of the week. As soon as I am able to, I will try all of you suggestions.
edit: I ran cpuz after testing and my pcie link was 16X
