This project fell flat over the last couple of months due to work and other things, but I have started it back up. I have reverted to going with the horizontal HTPC look and will be utilizing the following parts:

I will be running my satellite via my 4DTV receiver into the TV tuner so I can record. Should I use the HVR-1800 or wait for the HVR-2250?

Left to do:
- finish bondoing sides
- make cuts for 2 fans and cut for plexiglass on top
- mod and install hdd cage that i cut out from the original case
- make mounting bracket for blu-ray drive
- clean up everything
- send case for painting

I will try to grab some pictures tomorrow.

Update:
I put bondo on both side panels to join/seal them and have sanded down one side. Bondo does not seem to be the best method for joining panels at an edge. Even though I bent one panel over the edge then joined it so the seam would be on a flat surface to bondo easier, bondo tends to crack in the ridge. I had to redo it a couple times.

This is a semi-completed side:

More sanding/bondoing and updates soon.

I just looked at your sketchup and something didn't look right. Then I realized you put it there upside down.

It will be laying flat like in the sketchup, I just have it upright to dry due to the clamps. I'll post pics shortly of how it will lie.

Well, the bondo as a filler/metal glue failed horribly.

Used JB Weld and sanded it down. Seems to work extremely well. Had to spread some more over the seams due to a few dips as well as to clean straighten out some other things. Waiting for it to dry and to sand tomorrow. Will post some pics tomorrow.
