arug...Intel vs. AMD - Page 2

I came off a Opty 170 CCB1E 0609FPAW. That was one of the sweetest overclockers i've had, 2.9ghz @ 1.425v on a XP-90, DFI Lanparty SLI-DR nForce 4. But nothing compares to this E8400 @ 4.6ghz. Intel is it for now and it looks like for a long time to come. I'm not a fan boy, I go with is what is the best, hands down.

Here is the problem.. Money. Your current motherbaord won't support AM2+ from what I can tell which means new motherbaord CPU and RAM whoch can be gotten under 500, but if you want to add water cooling to the mix you are WAY above your budget. Stick with Air for now. As far as what Proc to go with it is still kinda early yo tell exactly how well the 9850 is going to perform, but in everyday life either proc will be a huge upgrade for you. Cost is about the same for them but when you get to looking at chipsets there is no argument that the nforce 7 series is where it is at for you with SLI, and since the only true AM+ motherboard out right now sporting the 7 series chipset is the crosshair II Formula ( I think) You might be better off going intel since the selection is greater.

I've allways been an AMD fanboy but I'm regreting it now. I just blew a ton of money on my new rig and I should have went intel. I've had nothing but problems and this 6400+ BE is pretty much maxed right out of the box. I didn't want to go quad yet as the technology just isn't there with and yet. But me being a fanboy...
