What is a good board for...

Thread Starter
I am in the middle of choosing a Intel quad core I will be getting. (Between a QX6850, Q9550 and Q9450)

I all ready have 2 HD3870X2's and 1X4GB of DDR2 PC2-8500 Mushkin Extreme Performance RAM.

What would be the best board for me to get? I see their is an X38 and an X48 chipset... I know nothing about intel chipsets.

One thing though... One brand I refuse to buy from now is Asus... Can someone point me in the right direction, maybe Gigabyte or some other company that is pretty good.

Thanks for any help.

Why the asus hate? Most people find the asus/intel mobo setups the best.

I delt with their customer service. Their level 3 tech (Which is supposably a supervisor) hung up on me when I was asking a question about the site contradicting it self. I was in no way hostile, did not yell, did not cuss. He just hung up on me because he didn't want to deal with a problem. I had also dealt with this rudeness the first time I had to deal with one of their level 3 techs before... He said he couldnt stay on the phone with me while I try to troubleshoot a problem, he wanted me to call back after I was finished. (It took me 45 minutes just to get to a level 3 tech... Why do I have to call him back when the troubleshooting I have to do will only take me 5-10 minutes?) I also had to deal with their RMA department. It took me 10 business days to get my board back AFTER ARRIVAL. That took me almost a month to get it back due to the day it shipped out.

So yeah... Asus products are great, as long as nothing goes wrong with them.

Check out DFI. Haven't heard any complaints about their boards, and tons of people have them. They are super overclock friendly as well!

The DFI LP Dk P35 boards are amazing. These boards can take your quad about as high as you would like. Love mine I do

The DFI boards look good, but none of them support 1066mhz ram.
