780i Build (Critique)

Thread Starter
Okay, I decided to go with the nVidia over my proposed original p35 build. And with a stricter budget in place, I had to make some sacrifices. Here it is.

Ultra Black Aluminus -Case
Corsair VX550w -PSU
EVGA 780i A1 -Mobo
E8400 -CPU (chose over q6600 due to better game performance and o.c. ability)
OCZ reaper PC6400 800MHZ 2 gig (2x1024) -Ram
WD 2500AAKS -Hard Drive
EVGA 8800 GT 512 MB DDR3 -GPU
Tuniq Tower -CPU cooler
Apevia 120 MM fan x 2 -Case Fans
Lite-On LH-20A1L-06 -DVD Burner

How will this system fair vs. the most current games and applications, Crysis, COD4, and future games to come? I do intend to pickup another 8800 GT soon. Would this setup be easy to overclock?

I'd probably have stuck with the better chipset (P35 or X38)... and use eVGA stepup to step up from the 8800GT to a higher-end card.

But, otherwise, looking very nice.

No one has anything to say, I'm just asking for some love/hate on this build. And if there is any problems with any of my components that I should look for... I did quite a bit of research but you never know...

the only reason is SLI, and the 8800 GT was a cost efficient BFYB option, I originally had an BFG 8800 GTS G92 picked out, but that was considerably more. And at the last moment I had to drop the budget by 150... :X

usually people respond within a minute! lol, anywho... I'm just worried that this computer isn't going to be what I wanted. But then I think of the parts that I put in it and I realize there isn't much better

It's a VERY nice set up.

However, personally, I would pick the better overclocking chipset (P35, X38), and a single eVGA 8800GT. When you do that, you can step up the 8800GT to the next gen card when it comes out within the next 90 days.

Just my two cents.

However, again, the parts you picked are all excellent.

well, I already ordered. it was kind of compulsive... because i kept going HMM DFI lanparty p35, or ASUS p5e, or 780i... it was a viscous cycle. so once the card was in my hand I didn't turn back.

only parts i'm worried wont be that great, are my memory and my case. i have heard good things AND bad things about the Ultra aluminus, whats your two cents on my ram/case?

Only thing I'd change is a larger HDD, I like lots of space to store my media, but you can also add another HDD down the road.
EDIT: Nevermind the the "2" threw me off, 500GB is a good size

no its only 250... its not the 500aaks model. I dont have that much media at the moment, and I have learned to just suck it up and keep **** minimum. I have been using a 40gb HD for 3 years... (I am deprived) I finally get a decent rig... i hope this rig will be decent
