Because there is no law that governs the universe dictating what is right and wrong, it is merely individual perception that does.

Yeah, that's how it works.
Way too expensive

Can't speak for other shipping companies, but with USPS if you're even .01 over, they charge you for the next pound. Corporate greed at it's finest.

Actually that's not corporate greed. It allows for consistency so a person can weigh a package themselves, then look up the price in a shipping table so they know how much it will cost.

bashes the stereotype of nerds into the ground, lol. anyways, i know if i was to get the second card, i'd make a way to use it - it could be God's way of blessing him for something...
What?! lol

This could be God's way of testing him to see if he makes the right decision. It's like when I bought a box of photo paper along with a box of brochure paper at best buy: I walked away looking at the receipt as I was remembering something odd about the price during the transaction. Well, they only charged me for the photo paper, so I acknowledged that it could be God's way of seeing what I would do, and so I went back and paid for the brochure paper explaining the situation.

I was rewarded with really awesome feelings and a really great mood the rest of the night. It didn't matter to me what the cashier thought. It mattered what God thought of me, and that has been my point all along, but I know how much everyone hates God, so I try not to say anything in hopes of keeping things calmer than they otherwise would be if I mentioned Him.

Ultimately, you could substitute "God" for "I", so... "it didn't matter what the cashier thought of me. It only mattered what I thought of me." That would be more "politically correct". heh

It could be God's way of testing you to see what you would do - that is, if those boxes are both video cards.

My point is this: the folks at the company are indifferent to tchotchke and trinkets; the card is as valuable as the game, or whatever was in the "free" package.

Now I know you think the difference is that the company sent the tchotchke willingly, but a card would not have been willingly, and one should feel compelled to say, "Hey, my box of tchotchke had a video card in it!"

However, the guys who actually run the company would not have been informed either way.

If you have a categorical imperative that the free video card should have been returned, my point is that the same imperative should govern willingly given tchotchke as the unwilling video card, because they are both treated the same by the company i.e. meaningless.

I guess what I'm really saying is you should feel free to either keep tchotchke and video cards, or you are obligated to return them, to be ethically consistent to the moral imperative.

Which is why I think moral imperatives are stoopid.

Yeah, I'd say "hey, it costs more, but it sure is extremely easy."

Are you saying that because of what I've been saying, I should be consistent and feel that I should tell Creative that they sent me The Witcher for free, which was their intention, even though I would much rather throw it away?

And again, it doesn't matter to me what the guys who run the company think, nor does it matter if they ever find out. It only matters what I think (or more to the point, what my Creator thinks) of me after doing what's right.

Yes. And if you'd rather throw it away, why not send it back to them and save them money? Surely God would smile on that!

It's not necessarily more expensive, but I don't really feel like explaining why.
