Okay, I get that. I did not mean to make fun of your ideas in any way other than take the philosophy to the extreme. It's ironic because most of the time I have these conversations with a friend of mine who's the local Methodist Minister... We shout about ethics all the time!

I'm lol'ing throughout this thread because you're essentially owning everyone with the truth.

Honestly, their approaches make more sense logically, but in my opinion you're the one who is completely right here. You honestly don't have a right to keep the card if they send you an extra one.

IF they send you the wrong card back, then I wouldn't feel so totally horrible. It's really about the infraction. For the guys who got the thing at COMPUSA for $30, he really should have returned it. If you don't, that's blatantly lying and being dishonest, but if you paid $200 for a videocard and they send you a $250-300 one back, then that's a bit of a different story.

Nevertheless, dishonesty is never good, and 5cheese deserves a bit more respect for his stance here.

Okay I was the guy. And I DID return to the store, explained what happened, and paid FULL PRICE. And when I returned it the next day because it didn't do what I wanted it to for $450, the same woman who told me GOD thought I was doing the right thing the previous day turned me around, bent me over, and pulled a $40 restock fee out of me. After I did the right thing. I saved them $420, and they couldn't comp me the restock fee.

Thanks a lot.

This is entirely my whole point for those who have their unshakable morality: CORPORATIONS DON'T BELIEVE IN JESUS!!!!

Let me be perfectly clear:

If all of the sudden at my door arrived another e8400 from NewEgg that I didn't order, I'd instantly go "SWEET!! A free e8400!! Now I can finally see what this chip can really handle! Now it's time to overclock the piss out of the one I got and see how far I can take it without worrying about losing the only chip I have!"

And then I'd stop dead in my tracks, and say "wait a minute... I can't do that." My conscience would bother me, you know? I wouldn't be thinking about NewEgg at all (quite frankly, I wouldn't care). I'd be thinking about how I felt since I have to live with myself 24/7. So, I'd call them up, explain the situation, and let them decide what I should do with it.

So, I'm tempted just as much as anyone else, and I have the same feelings anyone else would. But because I know right from wrong, my conscience would be relentless, and I would not want to deal with that.

Thank you for the support, JCJP. I'm glad that somebody else is seeing the same thing.

Hang on a sec, bro. We mean that 2 pounds costs a little more than 1 pound to ship. Although, it would be sweet if they'd charge by the ounce or some smaller measurement.

For you ethics fans:

"Deontological ethics or deontology (Greek: δέον (deon) meaning 'obligation' or 'duty') is an approach to ethics that focuses on the rightness or wrongness of actions themselves, as opposed to the rightness or wrongness of the consequences of those actions. "Let justice be done though the heavens fall!" is one of its proud slogans.

De- is from the latin Deus, God, in contrast to the Greek above, though it's interesting God and Duty are interchangeable.

What kind of silly argument is this? I shouldn't have to pay the fee for a 2 lb box to mail what is essentially a 1 lb box.

Their pricing structure sucks.
