E2200 temp help/overclocking

Thread Starter
well, i just got meh new e2200 and asus p5k-e with some XMS2 DHX ram and, being a good little geek, want to overclock it as much as possible. i installed a scythe ninja, and applied AS5 according to instructions. however, when i look in mobo temps, it says its at 43c o.o and same with speedfan...but with speed fan, core 0 is at 31c and core 1 is at 28c. which one of these is right?

you'd need to download either coretemp or real temp, as those give you correct readouts of intel core temperatures, speedfan has been known to be inaccurate.

But it's no uncommon for there to be ~2-4C temp difference between the two cores.

I have always trusted TAT and speed fan to read temps. Have always matched up for me. Bios is not necessarily idle temps. Someone correct me if i am wrong but can have some load during bios.

Stumped is also correct that a 2-4 degree difference is usual under idle. Most of the time they level out when loading.

Good luck with the OC
