OK...

1) What do you define as a hardcore gamer

2) Why does a console have to appeal to a "hardcore" gamer for it to be a "true" console

3) Have you ever thought that there are products that are aimed at different groups of people?

You are an idiot, just because you dont like something you put it down, let me tell you something, i consider myself a gamer* and ever since i got my wii despite only having a few games for it my consoles, such as an xbox 360 with LIVE have been gathering dust, the reason? the Wii is more fun. just because something doesnt appeal to you doesnt mean you should flame it.

*Gamer - A person who plays games, how this applies to me is that i have played games ever since i can remember, having owned and still owning:
Nintendo Entertainment System
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
2 Original Gameboys
The thinner Gameboy
2 Gameboy Advanced
DS
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Gamecube
Nintendo Wii
Sega Megadrive
Sony Playstation
2 Sony PSOne
Microsoft Xbox
Microsoft Xbox 360
Numerous computers

I am actually quite proud of that collection even to say that all are still in complete working order and i have R.O.B

I somewhat agree... but not totally. The OP made a gross overestimate of what Walmart is charging for this bundle ($564 actually... not $600+ )

The base Wii system only comes with the main unit, 1 wiimote, 1 nunchuck, and 1 game (Wii Sports) for $250.

5 games at $40 to $50 each will run you about $250, and an extra set of nunchucks and a second wiimote will cost you another $60 and the accessory is worth $20 (you gotta pay extra if you pick an accessory that costs more than $20).

Add all that up... $250 + $250 + $60 + $20 = $580

They are selling the bundle for $563.64.. .basically saving you approximately $15 to $16.

Honestly, they really aren't saving you that much money on this bundle... unless every game you get is one that you REALLY wanted to begin with. Personally at those prices, you could piece it together yourself with a base package and probably come out ahead if you shop individually for the accessories and games (unless you gotta have all those games right now.)

My friend was lucky enough to find a Wii at Wal-mart, it came with Wii-sports and it was $250 + tax.

I think not, lol.
That price is stupid.
with some tweaks, it may be possible....i'm sure of it.. emulator anyone? lol!.. now try tweaking the wii to run UT3 on high settings @ 55fps or Crysis on high settings @ 25fps... good luck...

Well, it's a package deal. What your saying is that you want to buy a top end MX-5, but you don't want the turbo, AC, Removable hard top, full leather interior, or the magnum alloy rims.

Why didn't you just get the base model?

If you just want a wii, then check your local gamestop. They carry them from $250-$300
