But what you tell about it not being possible is just untrue, the mobo I have has been proven to work with bsel modding. I don't really need the oc, and I don't care if it does not work. I want to do it, just for the fun of it. As with bsel modding, memory or mobo does not matter (as long as the mobo supports the higher fsb), dell has nothing to do with it, just the cpu has. So please do you have an answer to my actual questions? 1. can bsel be done by just isolating instead of connecting to vss, 2. what vid range is acceptable for this cpu
1) "Can bsel be done by just isolating instead of connecting to vss?" No

2) "What VID range is acceptable for this cpu?"

CPUs and their VIDs are kind of like fingerprints, no 2 are alike...

Here's a guide to modding VID:

I don't know if this has been confirmed but I do know of a mod for 800->1066 then 1066->1333... But with the e4500s multi might be impossible, so I'd just stick with the 800->1066...

I have an e4300 w/msi p965 neo on my second pc, tried the pen mod to post at 1066 and it wouldnt stay stable, no way to increase voltage so i removed it and it runs at 250 FSB..

You can prolly find a GA P965 DS3 for 50$ or just go with the GA P35 DS3L for 89 at newegg, you'll be able to pull 3.0 with stock cooling on that chip...

Come on... Either help him out or don't comment. Perhaps upgrading his mobo isn't within his budget?

Ok, thanks!
Did it again, still no vid mod, and still no success.
Need some tools to be able to do that, so I'll have to wait for it.
The reason for it to not work is sure the VID? The pc boots, just before the vista loader it reboots. I can get in the bios, but doesn't show the frequency anywhere.

it works well. i have the same dell system. inspiron530......i did the pin mod for the fsb strap and now boot to 2926mhz on stock voltage. i crunch 2 units at a time for boink (world comunity grid) 24hrs a day 7 days a week, temps have never went higher than 43c email me @ fredro33@yahoo.com if you need more info

Like Kromm said, no 2 VID's are alike, However most of the E4XXX series are similar, the VID "should" be 1.325.

So, the fact that Fredro42's e4500 is able to do it at stock and mine isn't, doesn't mean that mine can't do it on higher vid as well?
