My Super Mario Bros. "whoa" moment was just seeing it for the first time on display in a Toys R Us, and realizing that it looked exactly like the arcade game. No other console game before SMB had ever pulled that off...I think the closest I could recall before that was either Pac-Man on the Atari 5200 or Donkey Kong on the ColecoVision, both of which were still pretty far off from being an "arcade perfect" port. SMB was truly "arcade perfect".

Final fantasy VII when I first saw knights of the round and omnislash.

Need for speed carbon: I had a rhino (The suv rolling road block that hits you head on) coming at me. I was coming up a slope and the rhino comes flying over my car and nails 4 cop cars behind me. Dukes of hazard eat your f'ing heart out!

Half-Life 2: the first time I fired it up I was in utter amazement.

Quake 4: 1 word, Stroggification.

F.E.A.R: Mind f*** anyone?

Dead Or Alive 4: I hate that b***h at the end of the game but she did make me go whoa!

Ninja Gaiden Black: A well designed fighting/arcade slash em up.

Crysis: The sound from that game. Of course theres the epic moment "You go take care of the tanks, I'll stay here and guard her."

TO be honest I kind of saw that coming. They kept talking about it and no one knew what happened. You can't remember your past and low and behold.

Grand Theft Auto 3: I was a fan of the first GTA, and going from that to GTA 3 made me go woah!.

Oblivion: I was unsure if I'd like the game when I first bought it, but its now my favorite game.
GTA 3! I was in the hospital, and my mom bought a ps2 and GTA3. After going from GTA to 3.... Was like.. Holy F*** S*** this is crazy. maybe a little morphine was involved.

CoD4 single player campaign- I actually got really sad when you are limping out of the downed chopper and you think he may actually get out... That was so depressing. There were so many amazing moments in that campaign. And now I think I have to play it again.

The Darkness- when your uncle shoots your girlfriend right in front of you... absolutely shocking. I didn't think he'd (or the game devs would) do it.

And, my personal first squeal at how awesome something in a game was- after obtaining the Ragnarok in FFVIII there's a sequence where you find out the ship is "alive". It sprouts mechanical arms and just starts shredding a hole into a stronghold. I was so giddy.

tbh, Crysis. played through it expecting it to be how everyone says it is, now i realize those people are idiots. the Core was such an awesome level!

CoD4's single player played through like a movie, and i was lovin it until the very end.
its multiplayer rules just as all of the previous call of duty games have. - except CoD2, which kinda sucked.

those are the only games that have "wowed" me in a while.

Dark Age of Camelot
First time I went on a real relic raid in RVR (realm vs realm) seeing a zerg of over 100 other players sneaking through the old frontier to attack a keep.
We brought the server down - they were expecting us . Epic battle that lasted for over an hour.
Its why I still love MMOs, waiting for something that compares.

Farcry - first time I got jumped by one of those demon monsters (I forget what they are called)...almost needed to change my shorts.
