I could name a few games that made me go "Whoa"....but its probably not the same "Whoa" you guys are talking about

Anyway, I'd have to say that the first game ever to make me go "Whoa", was the first time I saw my brother playing "DooM" back when I was about 6 years old. Man, the cyberdemon's howl and clanking hoofs rang in my ears for nights to come! It was fun back then. *Wave of nostalgia*
