[TG Daily] Red Ray > Blu Ray - Page 3

I do notice a big diff b/w blu-ray and standard dvd. I'm not throwing away all my dvds or anything, but I am buying blu-ray discs from now on. As for Red-ray, ya, they need to slow it down, Blu-ray is still expensive & there aren't any tv's that could view that redray resolution, although I bet it would look even better. If they have someway to make money off of the new format though well then good for them as long as it doesnt screw with the average consumer.

Red-Ray sounds far less silly than Blu-Ray. Too bad it's not for consumers' usage (yet).

Most likely downloadable content (be it through things like On Demand or whatnot) is going to put all of the 'rays' out of commission for the most part.

oh my....if we are already at "red-ray", what's next purple-ray with real sh.t coming out your tv.

I kept telling them no, there is really no pressing reason to get a Blue-Ray and a 1080P TV.
Lol my dads like, who cares about TV's. Who cares about Blu-DVD's. Video games, I only like Gran Turismo. What's technology.

i always thought it would be cool if Blu-Ray.. or the now defunct "HD-DVD" did kind of a trade-in/step-up program.. where you could send in like 5 OLD dvd's and get a new one or something... And send in a dvd player and 100 bucks for a blu-ray player...

I don't know.. just seems like kind of a cool way to get people into a new format, i know it's not the greatest deal.. but at least it would spur some interest into switching over... at least now that BRD is the standard for HD video..

Repost Also, it is proprietarily linked with the RED ONE camera only for 4K content.. which is used by all of less than a thousand people worldwide.... No red lasers involved, the name is derived from the company's name.

Blu-Ray DOES look awesome on my 1080p LCD. But, upscaled anamorphic DVD's still look great.

What is impossible to watch are VHS tapes. What a shame. I have many VHS tapes which will probably never be released on DVD. Oh well.
