DOH, You're right of course, I was looking at them the other day and saw two almost identical ones, one 32bit, and one 64, thought "ooh 64bit for the win"
What's the spec to look for, for not offloading back to cpu?

thanks for all the help. i'll just go with all 4 in raid 0, and use a dedicated raid card that's decent but not too pricey. +rep to all of you.

You won't find one... most RAID cards perform about the same as onboard unless you hit the $200+ mark. You might try looking on eBay for SAS RAID Controllers: http://search.ebay.com/search/search...aid&category0= You might get a good deal. SAS is downward compatible with SATA HDs.
