Hi

Can't decide if this is worth the €230 for two Raptors or would the money be better invested, have a 9800GTX on the way so was also looking at a quad core b ut not sure if I really need a new proc, let us know what you think.

Cheers

Hi mate, unfortunately this is completely the wrong section to be posting in. Don't worry though, a mod will come along soon and move this topic for you into the right section. Just remember in the future that the news sections are for news only! (Don't worry you're not the first to make this mistake.)

As far as your question goes, do you want to improve performance on your PC? If so what areas? A new graphics card would increase fps in 3d applications, where as a quad core cpu would only increase performance in areas that could take advantage of it. I'm not sure if RAID gives you any performance boost (maybe another member could answer that). I know it allows you to prevent against corrupt and lost data. Do you really need more space?

EDIT: Moved already. The mods are quick tonight.

It's in the right section. I have two Raptors in RAID 0, I got really good deals on both of them. I'd say it's worth the money if you have everything else fully loaded. They improve the responsiveness of your system mainly. Plus programs load really fast.

If given the choice Duckydude would you go for a Q9450 or the two raptors?
Cheers

Well if it were between those two, I'd go with the Q9450, but its not a great overclocker just to let you know. Hard drives are the last thing to get to improve performance, but it is noticeable gain.

My earlier post was reffering to when he accidentally posted in the Hardware news section, instead of here. It's been moved now.

Raptors in Raid are great, but for the money, the 5ms speed difference and the size price factor makes it not work it.
They are awesome for small files, but large files not as much as i wished.
