Which CPU is better?

All right... Ive been looking at a few different CPUS here is my choices:

E8400 or the Q9450

I can't find anything better within my 400 dollar spending limit... Does anyone know of any better deals than those for that price range? Which one would be the better choice? I am looking to overclock as much as I can with stability.

If you are gaming, I would say the E8400. If you are multi tasking and video editing, I would go with a quad. Keep in mind that the Q9450 will max out at approx. 3.5GHz with its x8 multi (some are getting to 3.6GHz), so you might want to consider an Q6600, which will clock about the same (3.4GHz on average).

Are you on drugs? The Q6600's can get to 3.8 with a TRU1E and higher with a LCS. The Q9450 has only reached 3.5 because everyone is too scared to pump up the voltage past stock.

You'll never see an Extreme at less than $950.
