8800 Which is the Best

Okay...so i'm torn between these three cards. Obviously for me lower price is better, but i also want quality and something that'll last...and i plan to SLI once i can save up for a second of whichever.

The three choices are...

8800gts 320mb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130082

8800gts 512mb g92
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130337

8800gt 512mb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318

I was originally going to go with the 8800gt because it's an amazing deal...but i am starting to become worried about temperatures....that thing doesn't have good looking stock cooling and some of the reviewers mention the heat issue...for price/performance/life expectancy which do you think is the best? Is the 100$ price jump from the gts92 and the 320mb worth it??

Thanks in advance!

The 8800GT would be your best choice considering your CPU and monitor also, get another 1Gb of RAM, that will boost your performance alone

Don't even think about 8800gts 320mb!

8800GTS 512 is ur best bet, it has more horsepower and better cooling than 8800GT. 8800GT might be the best budget solution,

If your still using the 17" monitor then i would stick with the 8800GT, if your going 19"+ then the 8800GTS 512mb would be the best card

Do you think the heat will be an issue on that card?? That's my biggest concern, and yes for the time being i plan to stick with the 17"....maybe 19" 6 months or more down the road.

Don't get the 8800GTS 320MB nor the 640MB version. These cards are based on an older core and don't perform as well as the 8800GT and the 8800GTS 512MB (nVidia really should have renamed the new ones,.... it's just too confusing).

I'd recommend the 8800GT 512MB. You really don't need the 8800GTS 512MB, even with a 19" monitor. Of course, it's a faster card... but I'd save the money.

The money saved, I'd invest in RAM. Get 4GB instead of 2GB, EVEN if you're running a 32-bit OS (!). Last time I checked, 3.25 - 3.50GB is still substantially more than 2GB, and RAM is very cheap right now.

And heat won't be much of an issue... with a 17" or 19" monitor you use relatively low resolutions, and the video card won't be pushed to the extreme, with some exceptions such as Crysis at max setting

agreed, RAM is about as cheap as its going to get, as soon as they stop producing DDR2 its price will be similar to that of DDR

Is the extra 1.5gigs worth the extra 30 or so dollars? And are the G.Skill PQ's or PK's better? I remember reading it somewhere but now i cannot find it I hope you're right about heat...i'd hate to burn out a card. I plan to run at 1280x1024 resolution.

Edit**
Just checked newegg...pk's are better but they 2x2gig ddr800 are sold out....would it be better to have 2x2gig of 5-5-5-15 or 2x1 gig of 4-4-4-12?

i'm thinking the second...but i may be wrong.
