What are you so worried about heat for? I have my card oc'd at 675core 2020mem and it doesnt break 79c with the stock fan.

Just dont' want to burn out my card...or cause any unnecessary heat in my case...i want to be able to overclock my q6600 without any concerns. Anything above 70c seems really hot to me.

BTW i believe i saw you last night on TG server in bf2 lol.

lol probably

Yeah but thats normal for my 8800 temp wise and they vent out the back of the case so the heat introduced to your other computer components is minimal.

70c? Man, that card is just warming up. GPUs aren't CPUs... those things can handle TONS of heats (over 100C, but don't do that ).

The stock cooling is set such that the temps stay in the 80's, which is excellent for these cards. If you're concerned, just use rivatuner to crank the fan up to 100%, and you'll stay under 80C. And with good airflow in the case, your GPU temp doesn't affect your CPU temp at all.

Well all this is good information and makes me glad to not have to spend 100$ more on a different card

And if you're really concerned about it, get the 8800GTS 512MB, which is a dual slot card... the cooler of that one dumps the heat (most of it) outside the case.

As does this version of the 8800GT 512MB:

Yeah i saw that....i can get that same Akimbo cooler for 39.99 on evga website...but i trust you guys and if you think that the card being that hot isn't an issue i won't be concerned....i might buy one of those silly rosewill things that just spit the hot air on a vent and plug into a pci slot. only like 10 bucks and they must work decently.

hehehe yep.

I have an 8800GTS 640MB (bought about a year ago, so the 8800GT wasn't an option). It's a mad overclocking (I was lucky!!), but even under full load it doesn't exceed 80C, with stock cooling.

You'll be just fine. No worries

Have fun.
