Terribly sorry about your chip :/

Next time, do some research before overclocking the hell out of it.

if i return my cpu to micro center and say it was defective, which im 98% sure it was, tell them i didnt OC it, it has a 90 day return warrenty if defective, there is no way they can tell i OCd it right?

You should eat the cost of that CPU because you did not do your research and you broke it. Don't expect Microcenter, Intel or anyone else for that matter to have to pay for your stupid mistake. Getting on this forum and asking if we think Microcenter will take back the cpu you broke shows that your morals and ethics are not what they should be.

I mean 1.55v, wowzer. I wouldn't even run my 65nm chip at that voltage!

For future reference, unplug the PSU and discharge the residual power before you go rooting around in your case.

The 45nm Q series seems to be more likely to die because of the new Dye... Did I spell that correctl? A few peoples cpus have died because of this. Overvolting voids your warranty. That is why you only give it enough volts to get it stable. The purpose of overclocking is to get the highest clock on the lowest voltage thus giving you lower temps. Ram timings play a big factor when overclocking a cpu.

Just hope it didnt take the board and everything else with it. 90% it kills everything!

I've never seen a burnt out CPU actually show burn marks from OC'ing. I'm sure you may see something under the IHS but that's just speculation.

I will say this, it's not a very smart move, but I'm sure you're aware of that.

I hope you learned something from this....
