Very strange PC problem! Please help! :(

Thread Starter
okay, well this is really strange. I was using my computer all day today, when I decided to turn it off. A few hours later, I tried turning it back on, but it wouldn't even POST. I got a beep code that was 1 long beep, followed by 3 short beeps, and no display on the monitor. I have never had anything like this before, and this is really strange considering my PC has been working perfectly fine. I tried removing the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes, and I still got the same problem. I even tried booting without the GPU and it still gave me the same results. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. +rep to all that help or attempt to help. Specs are in my sig.

pull all your memory modules out. blow on the sockets and the modules to clear any dust. and try and boot with one module at a time. if it fails, move the module to the next socket. rinse and repeat.

pfft. beaten by a minute .

I think its ram too. my BIOS is awkward and sometimes after changing voltages (even if its not ram voltages..) it just wont boot at all enless i take out one module, boot, turn it off and put it back in.

This is what most MB's use for beeps, yours might be different but here you go!

No Beeps... Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
One Beep... Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
Two Beeps... POST/CMOS Error
One Long Beep, One Short Beep... Motherboard Problem
One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps... Video Problem
One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps... Video Problem
Three Long Beeps... Keyboard Error
Repeated Long Beeps... Memory Error
Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps... CPU Overheating

I thought 3 beeps was a RAM issue?
Remove 1 stick then try then put stick back in and remove the other.
Well its getting power so not PSU lol, erm, if you have another PCI-E graphics card then try putting that in.
You can easily find out by just raplcing little things or trying your components in another PC 1 by 1 to see if they work correctly.

different bios'es may have different beep codes. Id open the case and reseat the video card/s and memory, and check all power connections.

reset the bios
Thread Starter
I've tried almost evertything. Resetting CMOS didn't work, replacing and switching RAM slots and trying different arrangements didnt work either. I even tried putting in another PCI-e card, but then I get a different beep code. It was a beep, followed by another beep about 5 seconds later...

What's strange is that it was working perfectly fine before this happened... I didn't even mess with anything in the BIOS or any system settings, I just shut down my computer just like any other day, and then tried turning it back on and got these beep codes...

Any other ideas?

I'm going on vacation soon and I really need this PC to be working when I get back
