Best upgrade from an 8800GTX? - Page 2

The only upgrade I see possible is buying another mobo and buying another 8800GTX for SLI or buying a 9800GX2.

Well, I would think you'd get more performance out of faster 4GB and higher overclock on the CPU than what the 8GB are giving you, but I don't know your usage patterns well enough. I'd sell 4GB as a "sidegrade" and overclock more. At that res you need more CPU clock speed. Having 8GB is cool, I used to have 8GB, but I did not notice any difference in any usage scenario between 8 and 4.

There are also some very good cards coming out in June from ATI which should be worth a look, so you might want to hold off a bit. The 8800 GTX is still a beast of a card, and you're only going to get a slight improvement by going to a 9800 GTX....

Thread Starter
Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm leaning towards grabbing a 9800GX2. That way I can toss the 8800GTX in my spare parts box and get closer to having the materials for yet another computer. I'm also worried about pushing my PSU too hard with 2x8800GTX (even though it says it's specifically certified for it).
