Did everything lock up and require a re-boot? Might have been a different issue if you weren't getting the Rainbow Freeze..

So it wouldn't lock up unless you were folding? Just curious. Mine will lock up even if I do a fresh reboot before viewing and don't open any other program... I was able to watch about 45 minutes of video this weekend without a freeze. What a great time it was...

Like many others, when I try to watch various types of video, my screen ends up with artifacts, then my mouse pointer will scramble with some lovely rainbow colors.......then the system locks up. Some folks can't watch video for longer than a couple of minutes, others can go longer...up to hours before their systems crash. None of us experiencing this problem seem to have issues with games or other applications, just Windows Media player or other video viewing software (including Youtube). It seems like the only thing we all have in common is the fact we own 780i boards.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about (consider yourself lucky) you can check out this thread: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=253891&mpage=1&key= After over 200 posts of complaints EVGA is currently taking a look into what's causing this.

I'm just curious if it's as wide spread as it seems on EVGA's board. It could SEEM that way over there because most folks on that board only show up if they are having problems. Figured I'd get a better consensus over here where people with working machines hang out.

So......are you getting to experience the "rainbow crash" if you try to watch .avi, youtube, etc.?
holy crap, i have been having those exact problems, i never would of thought it was my mobo. I thought it was somthing to do with my graphics drivers...

No, just while folding. I think it was a Vcore issue. Other than that no problems, except now I get random RAM craps for some reason, maybe. I'm kind of in debugging hell right now...

Not to hijack, but how many passes in memtest+ are good to really shake out a bug if it's there?

I think the problem is as one poster on this thread already stated is that when most people see problems with videos, they immediately think it's their video card or video driver.

Since OCN is sectionalized, some people might not wonder over to the Intel MB section.

Tae

And I voted YES.

No problems here my friend! Best of luck to whoever has them though...I had a few terrible P5N-T's that I tried and an AMAZING Striker II Formula that had my E8400 STABLE at 1.22v until it started having the problem where it never POSTed

I am having the same issue, video image corruption after a few minutes of watching and mouse cursor corruption. The system would just lock up a few moments after. On Asus forums someone has pin pointed the problem to Nvidia drivers for the 780i at the moment. He tried watching vids with just his codecs and no display driver and no probs.

I have not tried my self yet.

It is NOT just the 780i. I know at at least 4 other people besides me that are having the same problem with the 750i.
