Partly also to the fact that he is running multiple GPU's which will limit stable buss speed..and that the lower FSB is easier to tweak for latency/strap settings than a high FSB, where you will only have one memory divider..etc.
I dont think he would 'mind' too much if he could run 500+mhz FSB stable for multi-GPU benching..

my e6300 runs 2ghz fsb. What's so great about 1.7ghz

Its kingpin. Hes using LN2 isnt he? 1.9v is bad but apparently needed for 6ghz and is only ran for a short time. Plus he's mega-famous for all of his overclocks.
