New Build, howd I do?

Just wanted to get some feedback before I buy. Also need to know what kind of power supply I would need for this since my current wont do the job.

Note:Not necessarily getting all this from newegg. Also assume I already have the other components for the comp.

A nice 620 Corsair would do nicely....

Build is nice. Although get a Ultra 120 Extreme, the Zalmans are useless with Quads.

The one thing i would definitely change (because I was told to do the same) is swap out that Zalman cooler for a Tuniq tower...it's like 5$ more and way better for cooling so i've been told...buying one myself come monday.

And i'm not sure but aren't the x38 chipsets more designed for ATI graphics?? I could be mistaken though.

***edit. yeah i just checked and the x38 is for crossfire...if you plan to SLI you can't do so with this board. If you want the option of SLI in the future i'd look at the EVGA 750i FTW edition. It's been getting really good reviews and it's basically a less fancy 780i. Little bit cheaper too.

Sweet thanks. Ya I remember reading the review for that tuniq now but I forgot.

So any ideas about what kind of wattage I would need to keep all this going with a medium overclock?

I'm getting a Corsair 650TX....it has 52A on the single 12v...should do just fine for you from my understanding....or the 750TX which has 60A on the 12v which is definitely plenty...

ya I looked at that but its not PCIe 2.0

...Ya thats pretty importantt though, wasn't really planning on running SLI but I bet in the future I will. Well in that case, is there any boards that will support 2.0 and my quad intel?

As far as I have read the 750iFTW is SLI 2.0 in both it's PCI-E x16 slots....that's partially a reason why i'm buying it. Secondly it supports the new 45nm penryn and wolfdale chips as well as being build for the enthusiast. It's a killer board.

nope, no 2.0

The 780i and the 790i do but...way to much to pay.

EDIT:hmm...ya know maybe its just neweggs mistake. I searched it on the evga site and they apparently do support 2.0...

Gonna have to spend a little more on good memory though...

i think your best choice would be the780i but if you don't have the money then your only options would be the 750i or the 680i.

Well you could get the Q6600 which is around $100 dollars cheaper and a good quad and with that money get the 780i. Change that heatsink to a TRUE 120 or a Tuniq Tower.

For the PSU a system with a quad and one 8800GT will be very stable on 500w even when OCed but since you want to go Sli in the future 700w would be good and leave you some headroom for more HDD's, RAM etc. Try: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006
