Just for future reference, did I make a mistake by powering up a board with no cpu installed? Is that what caused the damage?

No, all that will happen with no cpu is the board wont POST. Just like having no RAM.

Just tested my Tagan PSU with this device:
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=28384

It is showing a high value for +5V which is creeping up to 5.4V and a couple times as high as 5.5V. It makes a warning sound when it goes above 5.3V.

No warning sounds are given for the other rails.

I would like to think that this PSU is good for a year or two. Am I better off getting a new one or not?
